How taxis work in Holbox
The island has no visitor cars. The streets are sand and public transport is golf carts driven by local drivers, organised in cooperatives. They wait at the pier for every ferry and drive around town and to the beaches as far as the roads go.
Some areas are protected and taxis do not go in. If you pick a destination there, Holbox Go suggests the nearest point they can reach.
Holbox taxi fares
You pay by street distance, not by time: MXN 100 up to 1.45 km and MXN 100 more for every 500 m. There is no charge per extra passenger. In Holbox Go you see the exact total before you confirm, with the MXN 20 booking fee included.

Taxi from the pier to your hotel
If you arrive by ferry, book your taxi for the time the boat arrives. We start looking for a driver 15 minutes before and, if the ferry is late, the driver waits from the time you chose. You do not need to be on the island or have GPS.
How to get a taxi in Holbox Go
- Pick your pickup and destination from the list of places or on the map; you do not need to share your location.
- Ask for it now or schedule a time, such as your ferry time.
- Check the total and pay the driver in cash or by card.
- When you get in, give the driver your 4-digit PIN.
- Cancelling is free until the driver arrives.
